Facundo Buonanotte found himself dodging a hurricane after being recalled by Argentina.

The on-loan Albion midfielder joined up with the world champions ahead of two qualifiers.

He was called in at short-notice after Alejandro Garnacho pulled out through injury.

Argentina have World Cup qualifiers away to Venezuela and at home to Bolivia but have opted to set up base in Miami with so many players coming in from Europe.

That has left them in the path of Hurricane Milton, which is on course for Florida via the Gulf of Mexico.

Argentina were hoping to fly out of Miami on Wednesday  before the storm hit.

Buonanotte missed out on international action this summer.

His current call-up rewards a strong start to the season on loan at Leicester, where he is averaging one goal involvement every 90 minutes.

Foxes team-mate Victor Kristiansen said: “It is a very difficult situation when you go out to a club on loan.

“It’s almost like a one-year exam to show how good you are – and that makes it challenging.

“It is also hard for the loan club to prioritise a loan player but Facundo has been really good so far.

“He is a confident guy and a calm character.”

Former Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has trained away from the main squad due to discomfort in his right adductor and he is a doubt for the Venezuela match.

Any involvement for Buonanotte will be, at best, brief and off the bench.

Valentin Barco was not called up this time after a mixed start to life on loan at Sevilla.
