Albion served up the classic “game of two halves” as they returned to winning Premier League ways.

Any review of their performance has to include a torrid first half as well as the inspiring second.

But they also had their attacking moments before the break.

Ultimately, they produced more of their best than they did of their worst, against strong opposition, and the result was a win which will be long remembered.

Bart Verbruggen 6/10

His work against two low shots sums up Albion’s day - badly beaten by Maddison in the first half but sharp and alert to deny Udogie in the second. Was fine generally other than on that ugly second goal.

Joel Veltman 6/10

A welcome return to the XI. Given a lot of problems out wide initially but found a way to re-assert himself as the game progressed.

Adam Webster N/A

Made a great block from Maddison before injury stuck.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

A strong performance after that troubling early period for the back line as a unit. Repelled everything that came his way in the more steely second half and got enough on a goalbound Kulusevski shot early on.

Ferdi Kadioglu 5/10

Delivered a fine cross for Welbeck but struggled defensively and was replaced at the break.

Jack Hinshelwood 7/10

As in the match as a whole, Albion's midfield were behind on points at half-time but came back to win their battle. A busy bits-and-pieces type performance as Huerzeler opted to use his qualities in midfield.

Carlos Baleba 7/10

Not a dominant force but competed well in midfield and looked to drive forward. One winced when he slid into a sliding tackle in his own box in the second half but no harm done this time and he certainly played his part.

Yankuba Minteh 7/10

Came alive in the second half. However well he is playing in possession, he is a real pest to opponents and that will always be a valuable quality. Set the comeback in motion with a well-struck finish.

Georginio Rutter 8.5/10

Showed some good footwork early in the game but really came to prominence with huge parts on the last two goals. We know about the skills but his goal was a real striker’s finish. And, very pleasingly, his cross for the winner, like his goal at Chelsea, was the result of having more determination than his opponent.

Kaoru Mitoma 8/10

Was the main source of threat in the first half and, though his best cross was wasted by Welbeck, was involved in the first two goals. Enjoys dovetailing with Estupinan and was able to drift infield to good effect in the second half. He is a game-changer.

Danny Welbeck 8/10

Should have done better with at least one chance in the first half but soared to head the winner and got through so much good work again in general play. Albion’s front four were electric in that period.

Subs – Igor 7/10

Had looked a strong contender to start the game and, after his early introduction, was, like others, got better as the afternoon progressed. Outmanoeuvred at times in the first half but was solid in the second and started the simple but effective passing move for the equaliser.

Pervis Estupinan 7/10

Added presence and penetration to the attack down the left while also doing enough defensively to help avert major scares in the second half.

Julio Enciso N/A

Lost the ball in a dangerous area but went on to do a decent job in giving Spurs something to think about.

Mats Wieffer N/A

His experience helped see Albion through the final stages.

Brajan Gruda N/A

Thrown in at the deep end for his debut and helped keep the ball.
