Hundreds turned out to watch an annual regatta.

Shoreham Sailing Club hosted the event and 128 sailors took to the water for the 30th annual West Sussex Schools and Youth Sailing Association regatta.

Racers launched in “near perfect conditions” last weekend. By the end of the first day, Sebastian Gatton from Crawley Mariners Youth Club sailing in the Slow Fleet and Jack Gardner and George Long from Bishop Luffa School in Chichester sailing a RS Feva XL in the Medium Handicap fleet were in the lead.

Before the races began, sailors were transfixed by a passing pod of dolphins, leading to delayed start times.

By the end of weekend Sebastian Gatton was the champion of the regatta.

Steve Mitchell, Royal Yachting Association (RYA) regional manager, said: "This was another well organised event by Shoreham Sailing Club and WSSYSA, bringing together a very impressive number of junior and youth sailors from Sussex sailing clubs and centres.”
