Albion's high defensive line is under the spotlight after they conceded two goals in a league game for the first time this season.

Alan Shearer told BBCTV's Match Of The Day viewers they looked vulnerable in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

He also produced examples from other matches.

As well as the defensive line itself, Shearer pinpointed a lack of pressure on the ball as passes were played through.

The former England striker said: “They play a very high-risk high line which they have been punished for already this season.

“They have conceded four goals this season, two of them were today, because of the high line they play.

“It is risky and they have been caught already this season.

"If you are prepared to move the ball quickly, you will get in because it’s a high risk.

"We have seen no pressure on the ball and, when you have no pressure on, you have to drop back.

"They don’t. They keep that high line and they have been done for it this season.”

Shearer and fellow pundit said Shay Given agreed that referee Robert Jones eventually got it right in showing Morgan Gibbs-White a second yellow card, seemingly with the help of fourth official Anthony Taylor.

Shearer said: “There no doubt. I know gets he little bit of the ball but he certainly gets a lot of the opposition player as well.

“I think it’s dangerous.”
