Andrew Crofts has revealed what he saw during the Amex flare-up which saw three men sent off.

Morgan Gibbs-White received a second yellow card late in Albion’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

He lunged into a challenge on Joao Pedro which saw him collect man and ball – right in front of the technical areas.

Referee Robert Jones initially signalled the ball had been played but then ruled it was a foul and a second yellow.

Meanwhile, arguments had broken out in the technical areas and around fourth official Anthony Taylor.

Fabian Huerzeler and Nuno Espirito Santo were shown straight reds.

Via X, the Premier League stated: “The referee issued a second yellow card to Gibbs-White for a reckless challenge on Pedro. Fabian Hürzeler and Nuno Espírito Santo were both sent off for their unacceptable technical area behaviour following the incident.”

Former midfielder Crofts, now part of Huerzeler’s coaching staff, told reporters: “There is a tackle we felt was a foul.

“You could tell Joao was hurt so you are obviously worried about your player.

“Their player definitely doesn’t mean to hurt Joao but it is obviously a foul.

“Their bench doesn’t think it is a foul, we do.

“The referee has to make a decision in terms of what he does.”

Forest coach Rui Silva said: “In the moment I thought it was a fair tackle.

“I didn’t see anything to justify a second yellow card – but from the bench.

“I think the referees took their time to chat about the situation.

“I don’t think it’s bad if they took more time to make their decision if that means they are going to make the right decision.”
