Fans at the Amex were buoyant as the Seagulls defeated Wolves to get into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The fixture ended as a 3-2 triumph on Wednesday night for the Albion despite a nervy finish.

It was an end to end fixture from the first whistle, with Brighton setting the tone early on with a 14th minute wonder strike from Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba marking his maiden goal.

Wolves were caught in-possession in their defensive half as Brighton applied a high-press. Baleba took advantage of the pressure by catching Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes napping before slotting it into the bottom left corner from outside the box.

The second goal didn’t take long as Simon Adingra, assisted by Adam Webster, arrowed a thunderous strike into the bottom right corner from outside the box. The Ivorian received a long pass out on the left wing as he creeped towards the edge of the box using Estupinán’s overlap as a dummy.

Before the end of the first half Wolves clawed a goal back through the help of Goncalo Guedes, who received a cut back pass from Matt Doherty inside the box and turned it into the right corner.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu made his second appearance for the club, after his £26 million signing from Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer, scoring his first goal for the club in the 85th minute, three minutes after coming on, in front of the North stand.

The move started from the goalkeeper who laid it off to Adingra, who took a smart first touch which left him open to run through the midfield. Welbeck made an overlapping run to help receiving the ball deep before taking a strike that was parried into the penalty area by Jose Sa right at the foot of Ferdi, who faced a gaping empty net.

Tommy Doyle scored in the 91st minute for Wolves in a bid to push his team into a penalty shootout but it was too little too late.

There were over 16,000 fans in attendance.
