Jack Hinshelwood showed “defend to the end” attitude to help Albion through against Wolves in the Carabao Cup.
The right-back covered behind his colleagues and spotted danger as Jason Steele pushed a low cross against Adam Webster.
As the ball bounced goalwards, Hinshelwood quickly covered ground, stretched and cleared off the line as Rodrigo Gomes closed in.
The incident happened with the Seagulls 2-1 up. They went on to win the tie 3-2.
Head coach Fabian Huerzeler said: “It is about attitude, how to defend a goal.
“Everyone is responsible for that. Defend to the end.
“Do everything that you don’t concede a goal and that is what Jack Hinshelwood did in that situation.”
Hinshelwood played to the right of the back four against Wolves and took opportunities, as usual, to join in with midfield work.
Huerzeler was pleased to see Pervis Estupinan get minutes on the left of defence.
Ferdi Kadioglu, who enjoys that role, was given an outing further forward on this occasion.
