Albion want to get Evan Ferguson back in the Premier League frame after he returned to action with his country.

The centre-forward made two substitute appearances for the Republic of Ireland over the international window.

He was being assessed for some part in the 20-man squad for today’s visit of Ipswich Town to the Amex (3pm).

Ferguson (pictured) has not played for his club since March 31 due to injury but twice went on in the UEFA Nations League.

He played just a few minutes against England and then about half an hour versus Greece, both games ending in 2-0 defeats in Dublin.

Those appearances were made in consultation with his club and Fabian Huerzeler welcomed his involvement.

The Albion boss said: “We are always in communication with the different countries.

“I think it was very good for him to collect some minutes although it was not so long.

“He had tough opponents. He played against Greece in the second game, which was not easy for him. For me it is important he is back on the pitch, that he doesn’t feel his injury anymore.

“That he can go 100% in personal duels, that he is not afraid of being hurt again.

“That is very important for the mindset of a player.

“Now we try to integrate him as fast as possible in the squad and also for him he might be an option at the weekend.”

Danny Welbeck is likely to initially lead the attack against the Tractor Boys while a decision was to be made after training yesterday about Joao Pedro’s involvement.

The Brazilian has scored precious goals in the last two games and been in sparkling form but, with Julio Enciso, was involved in a midweek international in Paraguay.

Fergi Kadioglu is expected to make his Albion debut in some form.
