England should be discussing a call for Jack Carson.

That is the message from Sussex coach Paul Farbrace after the spinner took 20 wickets in two matches.

Carson, 23, is a big part of the county’s push for Championship promotion after bouncing back from a disappointing England Lions winter.

Farbrace said: “I would hope he is being talked about on a regular basis in terms of Lions cricket and senior cricket.

“He has definitely got the capabilities.

“This year we are seeing a bloke who can certainly cope with the expectation.

“He is someone you want in your team at every given opportunity.”

Farbrace said Carson, who is part of his dressing room leadership group, has matured as a player and a person.

He added: “He has got more control of his emotions, more control over his mindset when he is bowling and he is not putting himself under pressure as he has done before.

“Spinner don’t tend to develop until they are into their mid-20s.

“He is an absolute team player.”

Sussex continue preparations today for their Blast quarter-final at home to Lancashire tomorrow (7pm).

Jofra Archer has been cleared to play and will join Ollie Robinson and skipper Tymal Mills in a three-pronged all-England pace attack for Sharks.
