Fabian Huerzeler says that having a wealth in talent in his squad helps to drive up standards in the team.

Huerzeler said that, after a bumper transfer window for Albion, having such a good squad breeds competition in training and makes players demand a lot from each other.

He added that he was “really happy” to have Ferdi Kadioglu and Georginio Rutter in the team – and both could feature against Arsenal.

Huerzeler said: “Having a good squad means competition in training and means that they demand a lot from each other. They can’t rest.

“They need to be the best version of themselves every training.

“They need to have a good attitude and good positive body language else another player will be better than you.

“It’s football, I try to put the best team on the pitch on Saturday because in the end the most important thing is always the success of the club, not the individual players.

“Of course we are looking at the individual player but all the decisions we do is to bring the club the most success they can get.

“Every player who is in the squad will have an important role. The subs decided the game in the end and I don’t make a difference between starters and non-starters.

“If Rutter or Ferdi will start I won’t know it yet but I’m really happy that I have them as two options in my team.”

Ferdi was presented to fans ahead of the Carabao Cup tie against Crawley on Tuesday and the game against Arsenal would be the first chance for the Turkish defender to play.

Meanwhile Rutter made an appearance off the bench against Manchester United in the late win at the Amex last weekend.
