Brendan Rodgers expects Albion to sign midfielder Matt O’Riley in the next two days.

O’Riley missed Celtic’s league game at St Mirren today.

He is widely expected to join the Seagulls for a fee of around £25 million.

Rodgers told BBC Scotland ahead of today’s game: "He will be down in Brighton completing his medical.

"We expect that to go through over the course of the next couple of days."

Rodgers has some knowledge of Albion’s history given his son Anton played for their development squad.

He is happy with the fee being received.

The Celtic boss said: "I said at the beginning if the window if a player leaves here, you pay for the player and not necessarily the league.

“The club have done great in terms of the business perspective.

“From a football perspective you are always sad to lose a top player.

“In his two-and-a-half years here he has developed and progressed.

“In my time here, he has been absolutely magnificent in this last year.

“For lots of players, Celtic is not their end game.

“He gave everything to the team and the club.

"Right up to his very last day he was out doing extra work. That shows the mentality he has.

"So, I'm pleased for Matt in terms of he gets a move to the Premier League - and for us, we continue to push on. That's the model of the club."
