Fabian Huerzeler says Albion have shown ambition in the summer transfer window – with seven days still to go and more activity possible.

Now he aims to put it all together for a strong season in the Premier League.

The Seagulls meet Manchester United at the Amex today (12.30pm) with a starting XI likely to show eight changes to that which kicked off their most recent home league game – against the same opponents at the end of last season.

Summer arrivals Mats Wieffer and Yankuba Minteh look set to make home debuts.

Record signing Georginio Rutter has been a smiling presence at the training ground this week and recent addition Brajan Gruda comes into contention for a role of some sort.

Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu remains a target for the final days of the window and Valentin Barco, who also plays that role, has been allowed out on loan.

Excitement over reported progress towards signing Kadioglu and Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley was growing last night.

Albion have been among Europe’s biggest nett spenders this summer and, asked whether he had expected such backing, Huerzeler said: “I expect nothing!

“I’m very convinced of the players I have but, on the other side, I’m very thankful that the club shows their ambition, especially Tony Bloom, the chairman, and Paul Barber, the CEO.

“They showed their ambition by doing this, by signing great players who might improve the club.

“In the end it’s up to me and my team to use these players and to make out of individual players a group.

“That’s the most important thing, to create a team and create a togetherness.

“That will be my job together with my experts in my staff, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
