Valentin Barco arrived in southern Spain on Thursday evening ahead of an expected loan deal with Sevilla.

Barco is wanted by Sevilla for the season as replacement for veteran Marcos Acuna, who has joined River Plate.

He smiled somewhat nervously as he posed for pictures and videos at Seville airport.

Meanwhile there were conflicting indications as to what would happen with Billy Gilmour in the last week of the transfer window.

Albion head coach Fabian Huerzeler was asked at his morning press conference whether his Scotland midfielder would be available to face Manchester United.

He was also asked whether he expected Gilmour to stay with the club.

In reply, he smiled and said: “Yes and yes”.

However there were suggestions from Italy later in the day he was closing on a £15 million move to Napoli.
