Albion are expected to confirm the signing of Georginio Rutter to add to a spectacular start to the season.

The French forward was poised to complete his £40 million move from Leeds United and join a Seagulls squad buzzing from the 3-0 opening-day win at Everton.

Head coach Fabian Huerzeler will focus on getting Rutter integrated into his squad as quickly as possible, as will be the aim with Brajan Gruda.

The midfielder snapped up from Mainz was close to involvement at Goodison Park, where goals from Kaoru Mitoma, Danny Welbeck and Simon Adingra secured the points.

Huerzeler had considered naming Gruda in his matchday 20 and said: “He was close. But he also had a small injury where we also have to take care of him.

“Let’s see how it will be next week.

“It is important he gets integrated as quick as possible.”

Billy Gilmour, who went on as sub on Saturday, is expected to remain with Albion, despite strong interest from Napoli.

Several younger players look set to go on loan, with Huerzeler’s previous club St Pauli emerging as a possible temporary destination for Malick Yalcouye.

Amario Cozier-Duberry looks an ideal candidate for a loan with an ambitious Championship club after showing promise in pre-season.

Heurzeler was delighted with the win on Merseyside but added: “It was a good start, nothing more.

“Now we try to keep working and it is very important to stay humble after a win like this.”
