Albion got off to a great start with a 3-0 win at Everton.
They were tested defensively at times but earned the right to show off their explosive qualities going forward.
This is how they fared as individuals within the team effort.
Jason Steele 7/10
Clawed away an early effort from Harrison and, while tested by a couple of crosses, was comfortable on his way to the clean sheet.
Joel Veltman 7/10
Attentive to the forays of Mykolenko down the Everton left but his highlight was a brave and important aerial challenge to deny Doucoure.
Jan Paul van Hecke 7.5/10
Showed why he was named in the provisional Holland squad with a solid and accomplished start to the season, bar one misunderstanding with Milner.
Lewis Dunk 7/10
Had helped Albion get the game won before making way. Replays suggest he was right to feel aggrieved over the initial penalty call. Along with his back line managed to catch Everton offside on a regular basis.
Jack Hinshelwood 6.5/10
Given a tough assignment at left-back against Harrison and Everton targeted that area. He had difficult moments but battled away and was good in possession.
Mats Wieffer 7/10
His highlight was his part in the second goal, his lowlight the moments ahead of the penalty incident. Got through a lot unsung work and loves a tackle.
James Milner 7/10
Kept things ticking over to good effect in midfield, including time wide on the right where he helped get Minteh playing. Made an important shot-block in the first half.
Yankuba Minteh 8/10
Dazzling work on the first goal when he opted to go down the outside and was tracking back diligently when he was hurt.
Joao Pedro 7/10
Hit the post with a fine effort and was an elusive link man in that No.10 role.
Kaoru Mitoma 8.5/10
Sensational at times, notably for various reasons on the opening goal. And yet it felt like he could have ended with at least one more goal and an assist or two as well. Fabulous to watch and willing to work.
Danny Welbeck 8/10
Took his goal expertly and played a big part on the third as an example of the way he knots things together in attack.
Subs - Simon Adingra 8/10
Seized his chance to great effect as a reminder of heights he scaled last season.
Other subs N/A
Adam Webster, Billy Gilmour, Jeremy Sarmiento and Yasin Ayari all revelled in Albion’s dominance, the latter seeing a goal ruled out for a tight but correct offside call.
