Fabian Huerzeler has told Billy Gilmour he can continue to develop with Albion.
Away fans sang “we want you to stay” as Gilmour took the applause with his team-mates at Goodison Park.
Gilmour went on as sub with the Seagulls cruising towards a 3-0 success on the opening day of the season.
He had not featured in any of the four pre-season friendlies played in public.
Gilmour has been subject of interest from Napoli, who appear set to offload Jans-Lys Cajuste to Ipswich.
The expectation in Naples has been that Antonio Conte’s club would step up efforts to sign Gilmour once Cajuste’s exit had been completed.
Speaking after the win at Everton, Huerzeler said: “Billy Gilmour knows how I see him and how my plans are with him.
“In the end he knows what he has with this club, with his team-mates, I think he feels comfortable.
“Here he can develop, he's a great player and he's developed well here already.
“We will see what happens but I'm really glad he's back on the pitch today.”
