Fabian Huerzeler has spelt out the big challenges facing Albion new boy Brajan Guda – and how he can get the best of him.

The Germany under-21s attacking midfielder is on board from Mainz as part of a busy Albion summer in the transfer market.

Head coach Huerzeler was weighing up whether to involve him in the Premier League opener at Everton (3pm).

But he has given a clear insight into how the 20-year-old can help his side.

Huerzeler said: “He can play quite a few positions.

“He is a left-footed player so he can play on the wing, he can play in the half space.

“I prefer that that he can make the first touch with the left foot inside.

“I think the biggest challenge for him will be the intensity and sometimes also the ruthless duels.

“I think this will be the challenge he has to win but in the end he has amazing skills, he can make the difference in a game so I am really looking forward to it.”

Huerzeler said he spoke “a lot” with Gruda and added: “I tried to convince him to come here because I am completely convinced that he can help the club and that it is the right step for him in his young career.

“I said the club is great, that there are a lot of helpful and open-minded people.

“That I have a great staff around me, that they are all experts in their departments, in their areas.

“And we will try everything to make him better.

“Give him the best environment he can get to improve and make the next step in the best league in the world.

“That is what I said to him in general.”
