Albion gave some big clues about their opening-day line-up as they beat Villarreal.

The team which played the first half of their 4-0 success at the Amex could well be that which walks out at Everton.

Lewis Dunk, Joao Pedro, Valentin Barco and Mats Wieffer all came into the starting XI, the Dutchman for the first time.

Dunk and Joao Pedro both went off at half-time, the latter after scoring a superb goal.

Their places were taken by Adam Webster and Jeremy Sarmiento, both of whom look good back-up options for Goodison.

Sarmiento has had a productive pre-season and was given a warm welcome by fans.

Jason Steele and centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke both played the full 90 minutes and Danny Welbeck was not far off.

Joel Veltman and Barco started as full-backs with Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba later taking their places.

Wieffer anchored midfield to good effect before going off to warm applause.

James Milner was a little further ahead with Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh again out wide.

Joao Pedro played in support of frontman Welbeck, who has had a good pre-season.

It appears summer signings Ibrahim Osman and Malick Yalcouye are seen more as players for the not-too-distant future with loan deals likely to be their next move.

Feyenoord's interest in Osman has become well known.

Tariq Lamptey, Billy Gilmour and Abdallah Sima were among players again not involved.
