Rising star Joe Leavy looked one to watch as he scored a Brighton double.
The 16-year-old apprentice from Wolverhampton guided Lexington Knight to success in the feature race on day two of the Star Sports Brighton Festival of Racing.
Priced at 13/2, Lexington Knight was a comfortable winner of the Star Construction and Maintenance Brighton Challenge Cup Handicap.
It was Leavy’s second success with the Richard Hannon six-year-old and he said: “He’s a very, very tough horse. I love him.”
Uncle Dick, the last-to-first winner of the previous day’s Brighton Mile, this time stayed right at the back as he found the extra four furlongs too much.
Horsham-based trainer Gary Moore enjoyed success in the Star Community Housing Handicap as Tom Queally did the honours on 9/4 favourite Oj Lifestyle.
Leavy made it a 40-1 double for the day with 9/2 shot Foinix in the Alfriston Gardens Classified Stakes, taking him to 24 wins for the year.
The Festival concludes on Friday, with the six-furlong Brighton Bullet, in memory Harry Bloom, under way at 4pm.
