Kaoru Mitoma is ready to step things up ahead of the Premier League season.

The Albion winger played two sets of 45 minutes on the trip to Tokyo.

He reported no problems, having missed the final months of last term with a back problem.

But he added there is work to do before the Prem opener at Everton in two weeks’ time.

Mitoma said: “In pre-season I didn’t find any problems.

“Of course when we go into the season there will be a lot of burden and pressure.

I need to bear in mind about the injury I experienced last season so I won’t go into that position again.

“At the start of the season, I know we are going to play with the very top teams and it is going to be a very difficult one.

“All the matches I am sure will be a great stimulus for me to further improve and I hope to enjoy them.

“I don’t know how long I will be asked to play for in the Premier League.

“They are all strong teams and all have different atmospheres.

“I hope to be fully prepared so I will be strong in one-on-ones as well.”

Mitoma said he will study videos to ensure he knows what is required from him defensively by head coach Fabian Huerzeler.

He added: “I feel like I am still not 100% so I need to shift a gear once again towards the season so I will be able to meet the manager’s expectations and also create a difference.

“I hope to be fully prepared.

“The Premier League season is very long and I need to gradually condition myself to peak.”
