James Milner says Albion want more reward for their possession – as they close in on a landmark goal.

The Seagulls’ next Premier League goal will their 500th in the top-flight, including their First Division stint of 1979-1983.

Milner believes they should have passed that figure at some point last season.

Now he has revealed they are striving to be more productive in the coming campaign.

The midfielder said: “We have been working on a few moves around the box and finishing of play.

“Last year we had spells where we could have scored a few more goals.

“We kept the ball well but didn’t quite have the final touch to score a goal.

“It is important that we can improve on that.

“We scored a lot of goals in the two games so that is pleasing.”

Albion are now back to work at Lancing after their tough week in Tokyo.

Milner believes that trip will be of major benefit.

He said: “I feel the week was very good.

“We trained hard. The conditions were tough but we will get fitness from that.

“We have been tested in both games so that is good.”
