Facundo Buonanotte wants to play his way back into the Argentina squad and help Albion return to Europe.

The midfielder believes he can produce a lot more than last season.

He is likely to get another chance to shine against Tokyo Verdy this weekend.

Buonanotte missed out on the Copa America with his country’s senior squad and is in Japan working with his club rather than competing at the Olympics.

Asked about the lack of international action this summer, he told The Argus: “No, it’s not a disappointment.

“I have a lot to improve, I need to keep working.

“I need to do things well at Brighton for the national team to see me in the best way.

“When the moment comes I will take it and give my best.

“For me Brighton deserve to be in European competition.

“We will all give our best to get the club as high as possible.”

Asked about his work last season, Buonanotte - who is attracting loan interest from Feyenoord - said: “I went from less to more. I think I ended it well, playing games.

“But I expect a lot more of myself next season.

“I can give treble what I did last season.

“I can always improve in everything, be it collective or individual.”
