Scott Lindsey says pre-season is not all about running at Crawley Town.

The Reds boss is working with a new-look squad after guiding his side to promotion.

They will go into League One having seen various key players depart in recent weeks.

Lindsey is keen to get his new additions into the pattern of play as soon as he can.

He felt he saw signs of that in the opening pre-season friendly at Lewes.

Lindsey said: “We have done a lot of work on the training ground to bed down rotations and how we play.

“Pre-season is just about running, normally, but not here.

“We will do a lot of the work with the ball.

“They cover big distances still and they still have high-speed running in the sessions we have done.

“But we feel we want to get as much information in them as we can so we are ready come the start of the season.

“I was really pleased with the new boys who have taken on a lot of information.”

Ronan Darcy and a trialist scored in a 2-0 win at the Dripping Pan as Reds used two separate XIs.

Lindsey said: “We wanted two 45s covering a number that we wanted, which we have done.

“We have had no injuries and we have scored two good goals and a kept a clean sheet.

“The way we played was good. I thought we were dominant with the ball.”

Lindsey will again limit players to 45 minutes apiece at East Grinstead on Saturday.
