Albion have signed a new striker – as last season's top scorer Elisabeth Terland teams up with Manchester United.

The departure of out of-contract Terland was confirmed by both the Seagulls and United this morning.

Meanwhile 20-year-old Tanzania international Aisha Masaka has joined Albion from BK Hacken for undisclosed terms.

While it is unclear whether Masaka is seen as a direct replacement for Terland, it is perhaps no coincidence the two developments were both announced this morning.

Masaka appears to be a slightly different player to Terland but has been described as a natural goalscorer.

She helped Hacken reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season, playing in group stage games against Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris FC, and was previously top scorer in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Masaka has won 15 caps for Tanzania, scoring nine goals..

Zoe Johnson, managing director of Albion women’s and girls’ football, said the club are really excited to welcome her on board.

Johnson added: “She has competed at a high level in Sweden as well as representing Hacken in the Champions League.

“She is a physical striker, who is dominant on the ball and a natural goalscorer.”

Terland departs having made 49 appearances in all competitions for Albion and scored 23 goals.

Johnson said: “Elisabeth has been a pivotal player for us the last two seasons.

“She has contributed greatly to the team both on and off the pitch. We wish her all the best for the next stage in her career.”

Former Albion winger Katie Robinson, who was also out of contract, this week signed for Aston Villa.

But the Seagulls have made several summer signings, led by England star Fran Kirby and popular Japan international Kiko Seike.

Kirby appeared as a late sub for the Lionesses last night as they drew 0-0 in Sweden to secure their place at the Euros next summer.
