Lewis Dunk has a former Albion colleague within the England group heading into the Euro 2024 final.

And they both made their Three Lions debuts in the same game.

Dunk won what was for a long time his only cap in the 3-0 friendly win over USA at Wembley in October, 2018.

Paul Nevin was on the bench with Gareth Southgate for the first time in that game.

Nevin was assistant to Seagulls boss Chris Hughton at the time.

He joined the club in the summer of 2016, just ahead of the promotion season, and departed with Hughton three years later.

Nevin was temporarily appointed to Southgate's England staff as part of the FA's BAME coaching initiative across all national teams.

He was involved in the USA game and the 2-1 success over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League a few days later which took England to the finals.

Leaving Wembley that afternoon, Nevin told The Argus what a “superb” experience that had been with the international set-up.

He remained with the Three Lions through to their third-place finish at the finals and is now part of a six-man technical team in Germany.

Nevin, now 55, assisted David Moyes at West Ham for more than three years after leaving Albion.

He re-joined the England senior men’s team coaching staff in August 2021 and combines that role with his job at Strasbourg, where he is first-team coach under manager Patrick Vieira.

The England set-up also includes goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, who worked at Swansea City with on-loan Albion youngster Carl Rushworth last season.
