Lewis Dunk and England have set their sights on the final of Euro 2024.
But Albion have also shown their pride in the man who tried to halt the Three Lions.
Gareth Southgate and his men are preparing for Sunday’s final against Spain after a dramatic 2-1 win over Holland in the semis.
Albion and Holland goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was left devastated by Ollie Watkins’ late winner but his Seagulls coach Jack Stern said: “The youngest goalkeeper at the European Championship for 60 years.
“So proud of this special young man and his performances this summer. Well done, Bart.”
Verbruggen turns 22 next month.
Meanwhile, non-league Whitehawk have reminded fans how they crossed paths with goal hero Watkins back in 2015, when he was on loan at Weston-Super-Mare from Exeter City.
Watkins went on as sub that day and scored in a Conference South game but Hawks grabbed a 2-1 win when ex-Albion man Sam Gargan struck late.
Hawks tweeted: “Nine years ago, Ollie Watkins was scoring at the Enclosed Ground in a losing effort against the Hawks. From Brighton to Berlin. Do we dare to dream?”
