Billy Gilmour and Scotland began their journey home from Germany this afternoon to the accompaniment of a Bavarian band following their exit from Euro 2024.
Steve Clarke’s side lost 1-0 to Hungary in Stuttgart to leave them bottom of Group A with one point from three matches, following a 5-1 opening game thrashing by host country Germany and a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.
Scotland were given a memorable reception by the locals and the band when they arrived at their training base in Garmisch-Partenkirchen just over two weeks ago but the performances and results did not match the quality of the welcome.
Gilmour started the last two games but was taken off by Clarke going into the closing stages on each occasion.
He will now have some time to rest before linking up with his Albion colleagues for pre-season.
The Seagulls face Kashima Antlers in Tokyo exactly one month from today, although it is not clear when their international players will be in action.
New head coach Fabian Huerzeler is due to talk to the media next Tuesday.
