Albion will face former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper in the new season – when they face Leicester City.

Cooper has been appointed as boss of the newly-promoted Foxes on a three-year deal.

His name had been pushed forward as a leading candidate to take over the Seagulls recently although, as reported by The Argus, that was not actually the case.

His arrival at Leicester will be of some interest to Albion fans for two reasons.

Firstly because former Albion head coach Graham Potter had been understood to be the top contender to take over at the King Power.

However he reportedly felt it was ultimately not the right opportunity for him as he bides his time over a return to management.

Of more direct relevance now to Albion is what Cooper's arrival might mean for the future of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Albion were keen on the midfielder in January and, while they too have changed head coach since then, their footballing ideals will not have changed with the arrival of Fabian Huerzeler.

However a decision over a lucrative player sale might not be only down to Cooper, given Leicester’s financial situation.

Leon Blackman of Oddschecker told The Argus yesterday that odds on Dewsbury-Hall joining Albion have plummeted over recent days as the transfer window opens.

He said: “Over the past week, his odds have been slashed from 9/1 to 1/1 for the move, translating to an improvement in implied probability from 10% to 50%.”

Albion have dominated the betting on Oddschecker, taking 92% of all bets placed on where Dewsbury-Hall will sign this summer.

He has been tipped to leave Leicester this summer as the East Midlands club is apparently struggling to meet FFP rules.

Other clubs priced up to sign him in the betting markets include Chelsea (4/1), Man United (6/1), and West Ham (20/1).
