Albion this evening appear to be closing on St Pauli boss Fabian Hurzeler.

The Argus understands talks between the clubs are under way.

While nothing has been agreed between the Seagulls and their Bundesliga counterparts, a Governing Body Endorsement allowing Hurzeler to work in the UK is believed to have been secured.

Hurzeler, 31, has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Roberto De Zerbi after leading St Pauli to the second tier title in Germany.

After some deliberation, he recently signed a two-year deal at the German club but with an understanding a solution would be found should a suitable offer come in for his services.

St Pauli officials have spoken to Hurzeler and sources in Germany expect the club and coach to part company.
