Jack Spong has signed up for another season at Worthing.
The former Albion under-21s midfielder has agreed terms for the coming Vanarama National League south campaign.
Spong started last season in Scotland with Queens Park after being released by the Seagulls but returned to Sussex midway through the campaign.
He grew in terms of influence in the Rebels midfield in the later weeks of the season and scored in the play-off final against Braintree.
Worthing have parted company with a further eight members of last season’s squad, including former Albion forward Jake Robinson.
Having recovered from a serious knee injury, Robinson – now 37 – has made it clear he is keen to continue playing.
Worthing have also released former Albion academy goalkeepers Roco Rees and Toby Bull, ex-Seagulls midfielder Jesse Starkey and Dylan Fage, Joan Luque and Odei Martin Sorondo.
Luque has signed for Folkestone Invicta.
Sorondo has made it clear he wanted to stay, posting on social media: “Gutted to say goodbye and didn’t want this to happen. Unluckily my time at Worthing has come to an end. Thank you to everyone for an unbelievable season.”
Reuben Livesey Austin has rejected the offer of a new contract.
The eight most recent departures follow those of Joe Felix and Ollie Pearce, both of whom recently joined York City.
