Ansu Fati says his time in the Premier League was “very intense” – but he has fond memories of his time at Brighton and wants to turn that into success at Barcelona.
The youngster returns to La Liga after a season long loan which bore just four goals and an assist for Albion.
Now, as he returns to his parent club, Fati says he is set on success with Barcelona under new manager Hansi Flick.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo about his time in the Premier League, he said: “It’s a very intense, very demanding league. Any team can win in any game.
“It was a pleasure playing for Brighton but now I am back with my club and together with my family.
“I learned so many things from both my teammates and the club. It’s the first time I left Spain and I had a lovely experience.
“Playing in a very physical and demanding league like the Premier League has improved me in every ways and I have learned a lot.
“I’m quite a shy person but I liked interacting with my teammates. I established a good relationship with them and there were days where we didn’t train but we still met up to do things or eat.
“At the end of the day, my intention is to continue demonstrating that I have lots to give to this club [Barcelona].”
Fati signed on a season long loan on deadline day in September in a move to bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking options.
His time at Albion was blighted with a calf injury which saw him miss 13 games of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 21-year-old winger scored just twice for Albion in the Premier League with no league goals at the Amex. His only goal in front of home support came in the Europa League against Ajax – he scored in both ties against the Dutch side in the group stages.
Fati returns to Spain to a changed Barcelona team who struggled last season under Xavi. The midfielder will now look to break back into the first team under new boss Hansi Flick.
