Loanee Abdallah Sima says he has “given everything” for the Rangers shirt while on loan as he alluded to a permanent move away from Brighton.

Sima’s 16-goals for Rangers were the headline statistic from an impressive spell in Scotland as he enters the final year of his contract.

Now, the Senegal international has expressed an interest in staying at the club in a permanent move away from Albion.

Speaking after Rangers’ loss in the Scottish Cup final to Celtic, he said: “I have always said I feel at home and I’m happy to be here.

“I’ve given everything for this shirt. I feel everyone wants to stay in a place that feels like home, so we will see in the next few weeks.”

The 22-year-old has proved to be a crucial part of Rangers’ squad this season having joined from Brighton on a season-long loan in the summer.

The Senegalese international shone with 16 goals in all competitions, including three in Rangers’ Europa League run. He also added two assists in his 40 games for Rangers this season.

He narrowly missed out on adding to his tally in the Scottish Cup final after referee Nick Walsh ruled out an effort after heading to the VAR monitor.

He is yet to play for Albion after signing for £7 million from Slavia Prague in 2021.

Sima will have one year left on his contract heading into the 2024/25 season.

Should he return to Brighton, Sima will be thrown into a group of forwards brimming with talent.

The striker would have to contend with Evan Ferguson, Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck among others if he wants a starting berth.

His place in the team will also depend on how he fits into the plans of Brighton’s new manager after the departure of Roberto De Zerbi.

Brighton loan manager Gordon Greer previously spoke about his delight at Sima’s impact at Ibrox. He told Rangers Review: “He’s worked really hard. It wasn’t easy at the start for him, but he’s banging a few goals in and it’s great to see him doing so well. He has got some really good and strong attributes.

“You can see it in the games, especially sometimes when they play a wee bit deeper and you can see him explode into the space. So he’s a great lad, he’s done really well and we are really happy with him.”
