Versatile midfielder Tyrese Owen says he wants to target the Vanarama National League South title with Worthing as he signed for the club.
Owen joins from the Cymru Premier league after a spell with Haverfordwest County where he competed in the qualifying rounds of the Europa Conference League.
The 6ft 6 inch midfielder will bring physicality to the team as a box-to-box midfielder – but also says he wants to contribute goals.
He said: “I think anyone wants to play for Worthing, especially at this level so I’m buzzing to be here.
“Anyone who’s not at the club can see the direction that the club is going, appointing a manager like Aggie [Chris Agutter, who replaces Adam Hinshelwood] tells you everything you need to know.
“We’re probably looking to go for the league this year and that’s in line with what I want to do.
“I like to get on the ball and make things happens. I like to chip in with a lot of goals whether that’s late runs into the box or shots from outside the box.”
The 24-year-old joins as Chris Agutter’s second signing for Worthing after the club announced defender Sam Beard would be joining the club.
He previously had spells in the National League South with Slough Town and Hemel Hemstead Town.
Owen’s time at the Rebels begins as the club sets about replacing Ollie Pearce and Joe Felix, who move to York City alongside departing manager Adam Hinshelwood.
Chris Agutter said: “Tyrese will give us more physicality, size and power.
“He’s a box-to-box midfield player that can also operate in the backline, couple that with his technical quality means he’s a great fit in terms of how we want to move the team forwards.
“Most importantly Tyrese is again the right type of character who is desperate to succeed in a Worthing shirt.”
Owen made 23 appearances across all competitions for Haverfordwest Town with two assists for the Bluebirds as they finished 8th in the league.
He also scored ten goals for Kingstonian in the Isthmian League Premier having appeared 33 times for the side in the 2022-23 season.
