TOM MCGILL will make his return to the Canada squad for two friendlies as he aims to break his way into the Copa America team.
The Brighton academy product will likely serve as a backup for two friendlies against France and the Netherlands before the squad is finalised in June.
He makes former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch’s first Canada squad since taking over the side earlier this month.
The 24-year-old impressed in Premier League 2 this season having joined Albion’s academy at 14.
He backed up Jason Steele at the end of the 2022-23 season under Roberto De Zerbi but played for the Under-21s this year.
McGill is yet to make a first-team appearance but has spent time on loan with Worthing, Crawley and Basingstoke.
He comes into the final year of his current contract with Brighton but has an option to extend.
McGill will sit behind MLS keepers Maxime Crepeau and Dayne St Clair for the two friendlies next week.
Canada will head to the Copa America following a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago. They will play in the opening fixture of the tournament against Argentina before facing Peru and Chile.
The tournament begins on June 21.
