Jack Spong has been praised for his versatility as Worthing head for the play-offs.
The former Albion under-23s midfielder opened his account for Rebels with a double in the 4-2 win at St Albans.
Spong (pictured above by Mike Gunn) has returned to Sussex after starting the season north of the border at Queen’s Park.
He scored from a free-kick and then calmly converted a one-on-one.
Worthing interim boss Aarran Racine said: “Jack is one of those players you can put in a variety of places and he is very versatile. He can do the job.
“I’ve seen how good he is at set plays so, when he stood in front of the free-kick, I was confident he would at least put it on target and/or get a goal.
“He took his second goal brilliantly as well.”
Worthing fans are being invited to celebrate a superb regular season before their side go into the promotion play-offs.
They could finish second in Vanarama National League south with a win at home to Weston-super-Mare.
Supporters are invited to stay at the ground after the game for the end of season awards.
There will also be a chance to meet players and staff and the Fan Zone will remain open.
