Worthing faltered with a slow start to against top of the league Esher to keep the pressure on themselves to avoid relegation near the end of the season.
Raiders found themselves three scores down by half time and despite securing a bonus point were outplayed by the promotion favourites in a 50-22 loss.
They now look forward to trying to cement their National League 2 status with two games against relegation rivals to save themselves from the drop zone.
Worthing made a slow start and were on the back foot early on, finding themselves two scores down.
A strong Esher attack saw them convert the first score of the match and an interception from a Worthing attack allowed them walk in their second.
The hosts fought back with plenty of possession to put pressure on Esher’s defence and, after a series of penalties, moved the ball wide for Harrison Sims. The winger headed wide to touch down in the corner to put the hosts on the scoresheet.
Within a minute Esher had scored another converted try and secured their bonus point with another after just 20 minutes. Worthing Scrum half Charlie Clare also saw yellow for a high tackle in the build-up.
Despite the setbacks the home side now had a good ten-minute spell, winning a penalty in enemy territory at the breakdown.
Excellent phase play saw Will Gearing-Grief score from a catch and drive, making the score 10-29 after a late Esher penalty kick.
Worthing maintained parity to begin the second half but conceded twice midway through the period after another Esher interception try stifled their momentum.
Raiders sieged the Esher try line with catch and drive mauls which the visitors struggled to relent, culminating in a yellow card.
The hosts capitalised on the pressure their forwards created and the third maul proved the charm with prop Fraser Bruce dotting down.
Esher scored their seventh try to put the game beyond doubt but Raiders searched for a vital bonus point in their relegation fight.
With a couple minutes to spare the home side moved the ball across the pitch and Curtis Barnes dived into the corner to stop Worthing leaving empty handed.
Worthing’s bonus point loss still means they are not mathematically safe in National League 2 as they battle against Wimbledon and North Walsham to stay in the league.
Raiders sit above the drop zone with two games to play this season but will face both of their relegation rivals to close out the year.
Worthing head to Wimbledon for their final away game of the season before a finale against bottom of the league North Walsham to help cement their league status.
