Albion tested Liverpool but ended up empty-handed.
They were well set-up by Roberto De Zerbi as a collective unit and this is how they fared as individuals.
Bart Verbruggen 7,5/10
A third successive start and was fortunate that his worst moment was wiped out by a marginal VAR offside. Made a brilliant save late on, a few more routine stops and was good with his handling and footwork.
Joel Veltman 7/10
A shrewd selection by De Zerbi with his know how and experience. Was unfortunate on the first Liverpool goal but did some good work as the last man a couple of times and set up the Lallana chance.
Jan Paul van Hecke 8/10
Stood up well to what was always going to be a thorough defensive test and was good on the ball.
Lewis Dunk 7.5/10
It felt like great riposte to criticism of his efforts with England and he did indeed do some strong defending, confident on the ball and close to a headed equaliser. But, as with van Hecke, it is hard to give too high a mark for defenders when Salah had so many chances.
Pervis Estupinan 6/10
Was exposed at times down his side but this was a better performance, even though his partnership with Adingra was not particularly slick. Caught out by Diaz for the equaliser.
Pascal Gross 7/10
Outmanoeuvred by he Mac Allister/Salah double act on the winning goal but also did some good work with and without the ball. His pinpoint free-kick set up the Dunk chance and he did some hard work in midfield.
Carlos Baleba 7/10
Repeated the form he showed at home to Liverpool on what we all thought was his breakthrough afternoon. There is so much potential there and he is getting more up to the speed of the league.
Tariq Lamptey 6/10
Played in front of Veltman down the right and it was a good ploy but he struggled to make any impact.
Simon Adingra 6.5/10
Played a huge part in the Albion goal and was a real threat in the first half before Liverpool got to grips with him in the second. Needed to ke more of a couple of great positions he worked for himself.
Jakub Moder 7/10
Played a long way forward and seemed to be keeping an eye on Van Dijk wen Liverpool had the ball. There is ability, fitness and physical presence to work with.
Danny Welbeck 8/10
Thumped in a spectacular strike to stun Anfield and twice hit the side-netting, though he might have crossed with the second of them. Also did good link-up and closing-down work.
SUBS - Facundo Buonanotte, Evan Ferguson, Adam Lallana, Valentin Barco N/A
All sent on from 70 minutes onwards. Lallana almost made the breakthrough and might have conceded a penalty while the Barco option, ahead of Ansu Fati, was designed to supply crosses from the left.
