Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has committed his future to the Bundesliga leaders for another season to quash talk of a potential summer switch to Liverpool or Bayern Munich.
Speaking at his Friday press conference, Alonso said: “This is the right place for me to be. I will stay at Bayer.”
He has reportedly been targeted by both Liverpool and Bayern.
His announcement will increase speculation linking Roberto De Zerbi with both jobs.
Inevitably, some build-up to Albion’s trip to Liverpool this weekend will seek an angle of him auditioning for the Anfield job after Jurgen Klopp departs.
De Zerbi is under contract with the Seagulls until 2026 and has spoken about improvements he can make next season.
