Sussex batsman Tom Clark tuned up for the new season with a century at Hove.
He reached 102 off 159 balls, hitting 20 fours, in a rain-curtailed pre-season friendly with Surrey at Hove.
Clark retired immediately after reaching three figures as Sussex looked to give their men time in the middle ten days from the start of the Championship campaign.
But those plans were foiled by rain after lunch on the second and final day of the fixture.
The county reached 165-3 from 49 overs, with Tom Alsop making a patient 32 from 90 balls.
Clark and Alsop put on 124 for the second wicket before the latter was caught at short-leg.
Sussex host Hampshire in another two-dayer from Friday.
The Championship season starts a week on Friday when relegated Northants visit the 1st Central County Ground.
Admission is free for the opening day although tickets must be booked in advance.
Meanwhile Northants have signed former Sussex Sharks skipper Ravi Bopara on a T20-only deal, initially for one year.
