Paul Farbrace says Sussex have competition for places as they close in on the new season.
The county are back at Hove today to start a two-day friendly with Surrey.
It has already been decided Surrey will bat for the first 60 overs of the contest.
There is a similar fixture with Hampshire on Friday and Saturday before Northants visit in the Championship from April 5.
Head coach Farbrace said: “We know Cheteshwar Pujara arrives, hopefully for the first game.
“Jayden Seales arrives to play the first game.
“We will probably have Oliver Robinson available for the first game as well.
“The players here know there is competition for places.
“That is one thing we have really developed.
“John Simpson coming into the squad, Danny Lamb coming into the squad.
“We know we have competition and we know that players have got to use those two practice games really well to make sure they give themselves a chance of being selected in the first Championship side.”
Admission to the friendlies is free. Action starts at 11.30am today and 11am tomorrow.
