Mikey Harris has revealed he was pleased to give Albion fans a goal - and glimpse of a young prospect.
The Seagulls went down 4-1 at home to Manchester City in the WSL but had some consolation when Lee Guem-min scored late on.
There was also a league debut for 16-year-old defender Grace McEwen, who went on as substitute.
Albion interim boss Harris said: “I thought we finished the game quite well.
“We had some spells where you felt we were on top in the game and looking like we could threaten the goal and we could create something.
“That was the case at the end.
“It’s nice to give the fans something to cheer as well, particularly at home.
“I think another positive we can take out of the game is a WSL debut for Grace McEwen.
“She has played in the cups this year but this was her first appearance in the league and what an experience for her as a young player to play against Bunny Shaw.
“That will be an experience she will never forget as part of the early part of her journey.
“We are a club who believe in our academy, both on the girls and women side and the boys and men side.
“We want to produce our own homegrown players who know what it means to play for the football club and understand and appreciate the identity of the football club.
“To have her on the pitch for 15 minutes at the end today is a real boost to everyone.”
