Jakub Moder backed referee Michael Salisbury’s decision not to send him off against Nottingham Forest.
But the Albion midfielder said he was a little worried as VAR Craig Pawson reviewed his foul on Neco Williams.
Moder said: “I watched it back – and my friend sent it to me!
“I think the referee knows better than me if it is a yellow or a red. He decided it is a yellow so I believe him and it’s good for me.
“I watched it back and I can see I touched the ball first, then I hit his ankle.”
He added: “It is always a little bit of a worry when you see on the screen that the VAR is checking for a serious foul. I was a little bit worried but luckily it is just a yellow.”
Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi confirmed he took Moder off soon after as he feared another offence would lead to dismissal.
Asked if the foul deserved a straight red, he said: “I haven’t seen the foul, I don’t know.”
