Albion will come up against a Europa League goalscoring legend when they face Roma.

Romelu Lukaku has struck 21 times in his 23 games in the competition in the last three seasons and has 26 goals in 41 appearances in total.

He had netted in 16 of his previous 17 Europa fixtures before missing out in the second leg of the play-off against Feyenoord, when he also saw his penalty saved in the shoot-out.

The only blank in that period came this season when Roma lost 2-0 at Slavia Prague.

As Italian press have pointed out on the eve of the Albion game, Lukaku ranks sixth among all-time goalscorers in the Europa League, a table which is led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrik Larsson, both of whom have 31.

He is now on 297 career goals in club football with the triple-century firmly in his sights.

Of course, the Belgian centre-forward is well known to fans – not to mention Seagulls skipper Lewis Dunk.

Lukaku has scored three times in six games against Albion and has been on the losing side once at the Amex.

He scored with a close-range header that day as United went down 3-2.

His other goal against the Seagulls for United helped them win 2-0 in an FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

He put Chelsea ahead at Stamford Bridge two seasons ago before Danny Welbeck levelled with a late header.
