Albion prepared for Rome with one of their worst performances – and strangest line-ups – of the season.

This is how they performed within a faltering team display in the 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

Jason Steele 6/10

The goalkeeper rotation policy appears to be back in the spotlight. Steele was not at fault on the goals and was spared action at times by wayward finishing.

Joel Veltman 6/10

Steady enough at right-back without any stand-out moments for good or bad reasons.

Adam Webster 5/10

Was beaten for the first goal which put Fulham on course and that stands out in the memory. He did some decent scrambling, last-ditch work when Albion were stretched in the second half but generally lost his battle with Muniz.

Lewis Dunk 6/10

Beaten by the movement of Muniz on the second goal. Much of his afternoon seemed to be spent marking Pereira and he did some good chasing back to help deny the Brazilian a goal.

Pervis Estupinan 5/10

Some signs that he is re-emerging as an attacking threat in the second half. Both goals in the first 45 came down his flank and he was flailing on the first.

Carlos Baleba 6.5/10

A generally, if not totally, positive afternoon. He can be strong and strode purposefully in possession. He often used possession quite well but occasionally forced colleagues to break their stride when giving a simple ball and also gave maybe the worst pass of the match, which should have led to a Fulham goal. Was unfortunate to be booked. He’s raw but there is a player there.

Jan Paul van Hecke 6/10

His midfield role was out of necessity and looked like something which might work better than it actually did. But, obviously, looked more at home in defence.

Tariq Lamptey 5/10

Produced a moment or two of trickery but Albion struggled to get him into situations he could really exploit.

Julio Enciso 6/10

Played like someone looking to make up for lost time. He can beat players with ease and will be a big asset to Albion when he calms down and realises he does not have to save the day all alone.

Adam Lallana 7/10

Looked the man most likely to unlock Fulham, notably with the Ferguson chance, and even created an opening for himself from which his shot fizzed wide. Can he play a big part in the run-in?

Evan Ferguson 5/10

Let’s look at a positive. At least he got a sight of goal this time. That has been the problem. The attempted finish from Lallana’s pass looked awkward and the effort saved by Leno came with the flag up. But getting a sight of goal is the first task – and he almost set up Lallana as well.

SUBS - Ansu Fati 6/10

Tested Leno from a tight angle but generally produced more of what we have already seen after going on as sub. Bring on Europe.

Simon Adingra 6/10

Threatened without end result. Quicker delivery is needed at times.

Facundo Buonanotte 6.5/10

Went closest to a goal with a nice turn and shot which had Leno stranded as it hit the post.

Pascal Gross 5/10

If the Cruyff turn is going to misfire, let it happen when it doesn’t really matter. He prompted and roamed but could not spark a fightback.

Jakub Moder N/A

A bit part late on.
