Albion fans had their hearts broken after facing a 2-1 defeat against Tottenham in stoppage time.
Brighton took a half-time lead against Spurs after a penalty from Pascal Gross in the 17th minute, but Tottenham levelled after a goal from Pape Sarr.
Seagulls supporters remained upbeat as the clash entered stoppage time, but had their hopes dashed after Brennan Johnson secured a dramatic late winner.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi was absent from the match as he was recovering at home after invasive dental surgery.
Speaking after the match, former defender Martin Keown said that Albion are playing “the modern game”, but Tottenham had secured an “incredible win”.
Assessing the defeat on BBC’s Match Of The Day, he said: “It’s two teams with a shared philosophy on how the game should be played. It really was end to end. It’s the modern game of football.”
Albion are now ninth in the Premier League, below West Ham and above Wolves.
The Seagulls will face off against Sheffield United next Sunday at Bramall Lane.
