Albion are playing “the modern game” according to their former defender Martin Keown.
But Tottenham are doing likewise and secured an “incredible win”.
Keown assessed the Seagulls’ 2-1 defeat for Match Of The Day.
He told BBC viewers: “It’s two teams with a shared philosophy on how the game should be played.
“It really was end to end. It’s like the new game.
“People say it’s like a basketball game.
“No, now it’s the modern game of football:”
Keown picked up on how Albion won the ball back very high up ahead of both their penalty and a chance for Kaoru Mitoma.
He added: “Brighton are all over it because, ‘You’re mirroring what we are trying to do so we know exactly what you are trying to do’.
“So they then create again.”
Tottenham played their way through for the late winner.
Keown said: “A thing of beauty. This is why they stuck to their principles.
“It was an incredible win for them.”
