Joao Pedro will be in the spotlight again tonight – after breaking a 121-year-old Albion club record.

The former Watford forward is certain to get a hostile reception when he visits their arch rivals Luton Town with the Seagulls (7.45pm).

Joao Pedro’s penalty against the Hatters on the opening day was the first of TEN he has already converted this season.

Club historian Tim Carder confirmed that is the most by any Albion player in one campaign, beating the nine by Jock Caldwell way back in only the club’s second season, 1902-03.

Leon Knight converted eight in 2003-04, the last of them to clinch a 1-0 win over Bristol City in the League One play-off final.

De Zerbi is delighted with the form of Joao Pedro, who is the top-scoring Brazilian from clubs in Europe’s top five leagues.

But he said: “The last step to become a great, great player is to play 90 minutes in the same way.

“Sometimes in the game he starts the game not at his best and I would like the beginning of the game until the end of the game to be the same mentality.”

“Joao Pedro’s DNA is of a top player.

“We try to help him to progress, to be better.

“But not the coaches - the players and the dressing room of Brighton is great.

“You can learn watching what Pascal Gross does, Lewis Dunk, Danny Welbeck, Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, James Milner, Adam Lallana.

“If you are a good guy, if you have good behaviour, you will learn from these players.”

Dunk is expected to return to the starting line-up at Kenilworth Road.
