Vicky Losada knows what progress, a project and even a struggle look like.

The Albion captain and former Spain star was once relegated with FC Barcelona.

But she can see the potential being made around her with the Seagulls.

She believes the football can be better, that they will in time have more possession and show what they can do.

That, admittedly, might not be the case at Broadfield today against Chelsea (5.30pm).

But greater chance to express themselves can be their not-too-distant future.

Three wins in a fortnight offer Albion the right platform from which to take on the champions.

Losada told The Argus: “I have been in the game for a long time.

“Believe it or not, Barca never used to play like that.

“We were in a process of building something and I got relegated 15 years ago with Barca.

“so we used to lose, also.

“I think it is part of the process.

“This is a personal opinion. I see my team-mates every day in training and I know we can play really good football.

“We can have more possession but sometimes the game goes so quick, and I think brave is a good word.

“Sometimes you concede a goal trying to play out and then it is about just building the mentality of ‘I want the ball again’.

“We have conversations in the changing room.

“We want to play football but it is not as easy.

“There were 12 additions at the start of the year and we are still finding out a little bit. That’s the reality.

“But I think we are making progress and it is actually very exciting for what is to come.”

That relegation came in Losada’s first season with Barca Femeni but she has generally been viewing whichever league she has been in from near the top.

So what is the vision for Albion and this second half of the season?

A degree of league pressure has been taken off by last week’s win over bottom team Bristol City, opening a buffer of six points.

Losada said: “We will work on trying to have more possession because we are happy with that.

“Even if we make a mistake, be more brave, create that mentality, help each other.

“The last three games, I think winning has given us more confidence. We needed that.

“We also need to realise which team we are playing against.

“This is a completely different game but that does not mean there won’t be some moment in the game when I think we can try to do what we want to do.

“But we also want to win, so it is about adapting and getting points.

“We focus on the performance but we also know we have to get points.”

That win over Bristol City was hard-earned, the winning goal coming deep into added time.

Losada knows the league well and can see it getting better all the time from the bottom up.

she said: “It is super-competitive. A lot of players from different parts of the world want to come to this league.

“That is going to make this league more competitive.

“Different styles, different players but, in the end, you have to be switched on until the last minute.

“There are so many goals in the last five, ten minutes so that shows that the league is super competitive.”
