Valentin Barco has spoken to Facundo Buonanotte ahead of joining him at Albion.

Barco has spoken to ESPN in South America about his anticipated switch to the Premier League.

The transfer has not yet been officially announced while Barco is focused on playing for Argentina under-23s in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

But he told viewers: "I'm already a Brighton player.

“It's a totally different kind of football than here. I'll have to adapt, I hope it's quick."

"I didn't have the opportunity to speak with the coach.

“I did speak with Facu who is there.”

Barco and Buonanotte have previously been team-mates in the Argentina set-up.

With reference to his role with the Seagulls, Barco said he is ready to play left-back or as a wide midfielder.

He added: “Wherever the team and the coach need me, I'm going to do it.”

Part of the interview was taken up with contractual detail of how Barco left Boca.

He said: "There is no going back, but I am very grateful to the fans, who applauded me from the first moment.

"Maybe they are not satisfied, or maybe they are, but I believe that on the field I gave them everything I could give them."

Barco said he had loved his time at Boca and had previously signed a new deal enabling the club to benefit financially from his sale.

He said: La Bombonera (Boca’s stadium) is beautiful. Playing there is the most beautiful thing there is.

“They applauded me from the first game and I always tried to give it back to them on the pitch, so I am very grateful to everyone."
