Adam Webster said he was “all good” after his return from injury – as he was praised by his Albion boss.

Webster went down during the second half of the 0-0 draw with West Ham and had to be replaced.

But he reported it was no more than cramp and was in good spirits after the match.

Webster was a surprise starter at the London Stadium while Roberto De Zerbi also had to check with Pervis Estupinan before naming the Ecuador left-back in his initial XI for the first time in three months.

Both played their part in Albion’s first Premier League clean sheet of the season, either side of the commanding Jan Paul van Hecke.

Webster said: “I’m fine. It was just cramp.

“I have only trained twice and obviously the day before a game you don’t really train much at all.

“I think it was to be expected, to be honest.

“I’ve been out for about six weeks.

“I’ve not had much in me but, other that, I am fine, all good.”

De Zerbi was delighted to see Webster and Estupinan ready to play after losing Igor Julio to injury and Lewis Dunk to a one-match ban.

The Seagulls head coach told reporters: “We have to say thanks to Webster and Estupinan because maybe they had not the right physical conditions to play in the starting XI, but anyway they were available to play and it’s not a normal thing because I have been working in football for a lot of years and it´s not easy to play without a lot of training.

“He (Webster) played very well. He doesn´t have a problem - only cramps.”

De Zerbi sent on Jakub Moder down the right after losing Webster, with Jack Hinshelwood playing on the right of the three.

But both Hinshelwood and Estupinan still had chances to get forward in the push for a winning goal.

Albion again had young centre-back Leigh Kavanagh on the bench and he was joined by full-back Imari Samuels.
